Canta Claro - Multi Family Housing

Canta Claro Multi family housing
housing project en Maracaibo, venezuela
This project was carried out as a feasibility study for an investor who had acquired a  land in the Canta Claro urbanization in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
The biggest design challenge was the perimeter of the land. 38 meters long and 9 meters wide could. Its dimensions create a corridor effect of narrowness. Additionally, the high temperatures of the city are a very aggressive environment.

On the other hand, the client's interest included demolishing the previous house to achieve a better final result with a simple and visually pleasing design, both inside and out.
Therefore, an orthogonal design is proposed, that changes a single house into three apartments that can be used for renting. The east and west facades of the property, which are the ones that receive the highest solar incidence, are the smallest. This way the heat of the house is reduced considerably.
The south façade, which serves as access to the studio apartments, is covered with pergolas to reduce the solar incidence on the ground floor. And the protruding volumes act as a heat accumulator at its highest point, and achieve the chimney effect by expelling heat through slits.
